About This Item

Add authenticity to your World War II aircraft model collection with the Airfix WWII USAAF 8th Air Force Bomber Resupply Set. This 1:72 scale model kit replicates the vehicles used by the US Air Force to service their Liberators and Flying Fortresses during the war. As US bomber operations expanded in Southern England in 1942, the standard RAF support vehicles were gradually replaced by specialized US Air Force equipment. The set includes the Autocar U-7144-T 4X4 tractor unit and F-1 fuel trailer, which were commonly found on USAAF airfields for refueling aircraft on a daily basis. The Chevrolet M6 bomb service truck, capable of towing up to five fully loaded M5 bomb trailers, was a vital asset for the USAAF bomber crews.

This set includes the M5 bomb trailer as well, completing the realistic representation of the USAAF resupply operation. The Cushman Model 39 Package Car, a three-wheeled utility vehicle, was used for various light duties on USAAF bases. Its compact design and cargo box made it a versatile addition to the airfield. Please note that this is a skill level 2 model kit, recommended for model enthusiasts with some experience.
