Plaid Hat Games Board Games PH2900 Editorial Review

Forgotten Waters is a highly immersive and lighthearted pirate adventure cooperative strategy game for adults and teens. With an average playtime of 2-4 hours, this game offers a captivating and engaging experience for 3-7 players. The game incorporates an app, but it still requires active participation from the players, allowing them to manage various elements of the game. The artwork is beautifully done, and the spiral adventure book adds to the enjoyment of the game. The story elements are narrated, adding to the immersive experience. One of the standout features of Forgotten Waters is the ability to play multiple stories. While each story has a finite length with branching paths, players can replay them for a new experience. The lack of true character leveling is made up for with campaign XP reward progression, and there are separate campaigns that progress characters. The game is designed to work with as few as three players, and there are extra rules to accommodate lower player counts. Additionally, a solo mode is available. The core experience remains intact regardless of the player count, although players may need to keep track of multiple things when playing with fewer players. One potential concern for some players is the presence of profanity in the voice acting. While it is not possible to disable the profanity specifically, players can disable voice acting altogether and skip over any inappropriate content themselves. Overall, Forgotten Waters is a highly recommended game that offers hours of fun and entertainment. The immersive gameplay, engaging storylines, and beautiful artwork make it a must-have for any board game enthusiast.
